Welcome to the New Year and I hope it will be a happy one for everyone. This week you have two important communications.
Homework
You may remember that in the Autumn Term I wrote to you about homework and sought your opinion. A questionnaire was sent out (copy on back of this letter). 26 parents replied, below I summarise their response.
Unit 5 (Age 9-11)
11 responses were received
5 parents thought 40 mins per day of homework was suitable
5 parents thought 30 mins per day of homework was suitable
1 parent thought 20 mins per day of homework was suitable
All tasks 1-10 were seen as useful by all except history, geography and science which 3 parents did not think of as necessary.
Unit 3 (Age 7-8)
9 replies were received
4 parents thought 30 mins per day of homework was suitable
4 parents thought 20 mins per day of homework was suitable
1 parent thought 15 mins per day of homework was suitable
6 parents thought all tasks were useful or better
1 parent thought all tasks were useful except history and geography
2 parents thought playing games to improve language skills was not very useful but all other tasks were
Unit 2 (Age 6-7)

2 parents thought 30 mins per day of homework was suitable
2 parents thought 20 mins per day of homework was suitable
1 parent did not respond to this question
3 parents thought all tasks were useful or better
1 parent thought all tasks but practising punctuation, history and geography were useful or better
1 parent thought only punctuation, tables, history and geography were useful or better.
Unit 1 (Age 4-5)
3 replies were received
2 parents thought 10 mins per day of homework was suitable
1 parent thought 30 mins per day of homework was suitable
Reading, spelling and number bonds were seen as very useful by 1 parent
Tasks 1-6 were seen as useful or better by 2 parents
